Your afternoon sunset tour starts with a drive through the Siem Reap countryside, crossing the river. We wind our way along red clay roads, through a variety of local villages, and across small farms.
After a brief stop with light refreshment, we bypass the crush of visitors exiting the park and instead follow the charming backroads, past stunning rice fields, and small, historic family parcels where life appears unchanged for generations. Then, we make our way towards the west edge of Angkor Park to explore the remarkable historic site in a different context.
To end the evening, we take a peaceful dragon boat ride on the moat of Angkor Thom, with local delicacies including soft drinks and red wine onboard.
Today, begin your journey with an early morning. Our guide will find the best spot to view the sunrise and take perfect photos. Then head down to explore the ancient temple at its most atmospheric, bathed in the warm glow of the morning sun. Before having breakfast, we’ll head into the inner sanctum of Angkor Wat to admire the carvings and architecture of the temple.
Following the main road to Angkor Thom, replete with stone sculptures depicting demons and deities, Learn about the cultural significance of the Bayon Temple, the Terrace of the Leper King, and the Royal Enclosure from your guide. After roaming around Bayon, we will take a short break to enjoy our light refreshments to keep your energy level up before getting in our jeep again and continuing to the Elephant Terrace.
We’ll then go through Angkor off-roads on the way to visit Ta Prohm temple. Be ready for this iconic temple, which is overgrown by jungle trees and vines, with many parts of the temple crumbling to the ground. You’ll return to town through Cambodian villages that offer a glimpse into rural life.
A relaxing massage this afternoon ends an active day, then you will be free to explore the city of Siem Reap independently this evening with some suggestions from your guide.
This morning, we explore rural villages and learn about the daily lives of the local people. You will be a world away from Siem Reap – it’s a perfect opportunity to get ‘off the beaten track and gain a better understanding of Cambodian rural life, along with an insight into traditional Khmer culture, something few visitors are lucky enough to experience.
Afterward, you will discover the unique way of life of those living on Cambodia’s Tonle Sap Lake, which is recognized as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve—the largest lake in Southeast Asia. Then, we head to Kompong Pluk and, aboard your private boat, visit a floating village, built entirely on stilts in the Tonle Sap, the lake at Cambodia’s center. See the little school, Buddhist temple, and shops before puttering off to a floating fishing village, and a flooded forest, where – if water levels are high enough – you can pass amongst the branches by boat.
